From Day Without a Gay

On December 10, 2008 the gay community will take a historic stance against hatred by donating love to a variety of different causes.

On December 10, you are encouraged not to call in sick to work. You are encouraged to call in "gay"— and donate your time to service!

Has anyone else heard of this event? Is there a local charity that you look out for as the holidays get closer?

It feels like cheating since I'm self-employed anyway, but I'll be working on a food drive to replenish the local food bank's pantries. I've known people who have had to rely on food banks to get by during bad patches. But last week I found out that a woman my son knows was turned away from a food bank and actually had to pan handle for money for food to feed her kids. Thanks George.
